"...therein lies the major problem with helping random half-naked women in caves. Sometimes they turn out to be made of snakes."

2011 is nearly half over and I've barely managed to get anything done. In fact I'm not sure this counts as it was started last year in June or something. Still, something's better than nothing, and I had always hoped to finish this one up.

I should confess something: These don't look much like snakes, more like dragons mixed with snakes mixed with tentacles. Close enough...

Originally planned as a collaboration with *liiga, we sort of ended up just exchanging a few ideas and then I went ahead with the actual painter, rather than it being a true collaboration. However she was the one who provided much of the expanded idea (after I had come up with the basic premise) so she deserves credit in that regard.

And just so you feel all akward if you're staring at her boobs, the inspiration was the lighting I noticed after stepping out of the shower. So HA!

Highly recommended detail shots are here; some depth is lost with the resizing. Done in Painter 9.

I really love your gallery, your sense of lighting and mood is great. Have you got any advice about setting up colours for moods in paintings,. I just find it really difficult most of the time.

Thank you. :)

As for your question, well, most of it is habit. Eventually you get used to picking certain colours for certain things.

I would recommend just looking at various paintings and images that have moods you want to achieve, and trying to duplicate the colours they have.

Me, or the snake lady? :fear: Both are just as lethal, I guess.
