"Freedom cannot be bestowed; it must be achieved."
Pretentious quotation is pretentious.
This is a random painting originally meant to be a speed painting, of which I have found over the years I am ill equipped to ever achieve. One of these days I'll manage to complete a speedpainting in the original allotted time.
Basically this could convey a sense of wanting to escape some mental or physical shackles, combined with the removal of personal identity, etc. etc. I prefer that people draw their own conclusions however.
The image evolved slightly, and went through various stylistic revisions over a period of two days but I eventually settled on the original idea, and finished it up last night. I had a pencil and anime-esque version, of which I still might finish. This particular edition is still quite rough and I'm not entirely happy with the composition, but I wasted enough time on it already, nevermind its 4 clones.
Fear the magic disappearing nipples. And eye-navels. Oh yes.
Painter 9, I don't recall how long, not too long however. Still no speedpaint though.

At the risk of sounding like a weeaboo, this reminds of Elfen Lied. I mean down to the helmet and escape and everything from the beginning of the manga/anime.
