I find that the combination of sharp detail and the rather pastel dreamy-like colours throws me off quite a bit and makes for an interesting effect. (I love that vivid focus!)
It emphacizes the unreal machine "control" aspect of the picture quite well.

On the other hand, the green tinge in the background clashes with the light orange.
